Happy January Trench Sisters!

How did your first week of 2018 go? It's blistering cold in Chicagoland and I dread having to leave the warmth of my home. I've braved the cold for necessities and the occasional "my children need to go do something, anything" trip.

I hope you took some time last week to get to know Missy. Head to the website to read her letter to you and both of her stories. You can also interact with her (and all of our Content Authors) on our Facebook page

MEET AMELIA

Hey, everyone! My name is Amelia, and I’m the editor-in-chief here at SFTT. Jen and I sort of electronically bumped into one another right after she launched SFTT in October of 2016, and I joined the team as an editor shortly thereafter.

I’ve shared a few stories here, but I feel like I know you all better than you know me, thanks to your incredible stories and the experiences you’ve shared. I am a Utah-born, Arizona-raised New Hampshire girl, and if that confuses you then you’re probably picking up what I’m throwing down. I lived in about twenty homes or apartments during my first thirty years, and have lived in every major area of the US except the Pacific Northwest (where I often dream of going next).

I’ve clocked in at a tattoo shop, clocked out at a law firm, and steamed enough milk for a lifetime of cappuccinos. My hair has been just about every color except brown. If you said I was trying too hard, you’d be right. I’ve spent many years in a desperate search for identity, only to feel like I don’t fit in.

The past couple years I’ve come to the realization that pretty much everyone feels that way, and it’s simply not true. Everyone fits in somewhere—unless they don’t want to—and I’m tired of seeing myself that way. Here at SFTT, I’ll be writing about a little bit of everything: parenting, mental health and trauma, marriage, and how I go to Target too often.

I’m so very eager to dive into this next chapter with SFTT! Please feel free to add me on Facebook, but beware: it gets sweary sometimes. Thanks for taking a minute to get to know me!

Amelia will be sharing two new stories this week. You can also email Amelia at amelia@storiesfromthetrenches.org or connect with her on the SFTT Facebook page.
